Not sure what to get Dad for Father’s Day? How about a hearty meal? They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and we’re pretty sure that’s true! Give Dad a break from his usual house handyman duties and treat him to a delicious Father’s Day meal.
We’ve got some great catering ideas for Father’s Day treats he won’t be able to resist
1. If your Dad’s into the basics
A lot of Dads are happiest with meat and veg, and that’s great, but let’s take it up a notch. Do an oven-grilled steak that’s cooked in balsamic vinegar for a twist on the usual steak on the braai, and serve this with oven-roasted potatoes (cooked with sprigs of fresh rosemary for extra flavour).
2. If your Dad’s a sandwich guy
He won’t be able to get enough of homemade barbeque pulled chicken sliders. Roast a chicken and toss the pieces in a delicious sticky barbeque marinade. Serve this on hot, toasted paninis with fresh and crunchy toppings. Yum!
3. If your Dad loves Mexican
Tacos are the way to go! Serve these up tapas style, with a variety of dips and toppings he can choose from. Homemade guacamole and tzatiki, chopped up red onion, peppers, and pineapple, and fresh lemon juice. The best protein to pair? Juicy sliced pork of course.
4. If your Dad’s not really into meat
Create your own veggie pizzas! Make a simple pizza base and top it with fresh tomato sauce, three cheeses, sliced olives, and fresh rocket. He’ll be so impressed with your veggie flavour combos!
5. If your Dad’s really into seafood
Grilled calamari pasta is the perfect way to go.Served with a creamy white wine sauce and fresh parsley, this is a foolproof choice.
6. If your Dad’s a culinary genius
Impress him with stuffed pork chops served with a side salad and roast vegetables. Fill the pork chops with bacon, mushrooms and cheese and fry them until crispy. Watch your Dad’s jaw drop when he slices into the chops and sees the mouth-watering filling!
7. If your Dad has a serious sweet tooth
Lemon Ice Cream Meringue Pie is the answer! This twist here involves filling the pie with a softened lemon ice cream and then freezing it. Right before serving, add the meringue topping and bake the pie until the topping just browns. There will be no leftovers!
