Mandela Day is happening on Tuesday the 18th of July, and as South Africans, this day holds huge significance. We celebrate the life of our inspirational past president Nelson Mandela, who paved the way to freedom for all South Africans and the Nelson Mandela Foundation encourages each person to give up 67 minutes of their time (one minute for every year of Mandela’s public service) for the greater good, through acts of kindness. So why not host people in your home for a hearty and delicious meal? Or put together a corporate lunch to celebrate this important day at the office?
Easter is one of the best times of the year! It is recognised nationwide, and we get a couple of wonderful days off to celebrate the occasion and to gather with friends and family. Everyone knows, when friends and family gather, food follows! Typically, the lamb and ham are the two main meat dishes served during Easter, and it’s often a battle between which one of these will take centre stage on the lunch table.
